New adsense alternative for publishers

Google has been releasing a number of new rules recently including the display of a privacy policy in sites that display google adsense. The company also requires their publishers to make google ads distinguishable which can otherwise affect ads click through rates. There were also publishers who were banned from adsense which is why news of companies which can potentially replace adsense as a source of revenue among publishers can really be interesting. Just recently, I read at Techsagar about India’s first google ads alternative, Adzant.

I am not sure if Adzant is available to international publishers but I already signed up to receive an email notification once the company becomes fully operational. The company reportedly offers publishers different options for selling ads. I just hope that the ads that will be displayed are targeted to my traffic. I do not want to be posting ads about traveling to France when my blog post is about cooking adobo.

Will Google eliminate the 336 x 280 ad format?

After requiring adsense publishers to post privacy policy in their sites, Google has again announced new rules that should be observed by bloggers who monetize their sites with adsense. This time, publishers are prohibited to place ads under a title or section which will give out an impression that the ads are not ads.

I am quite uncomfortable with this because my adsense monetized sites generally display adsense right below the post title. Worse, I always enumerate things in my sites so I generally use titles such as Wednesday jobs for writers; Beautiful Free Blog Templates for New Blogger, etc. See this screenshot from Jobzonline:

This new adsense rule update also prohibits the use of ads near links or texts that have the same colors and line spacing as the ads. To make things easier to understand, Google is eliminating ads that can “trick” non web savvy users to click ads that look like part of the site contents.

Uh-oh, this will really make me busy updating my sites the next few days.

The ad format that works well with my sites is the 336 x 280 size and since most adsense publishers use this format to make the ads look like part of the site content, (yes, “trick non websavvy users” as you may say), will Google eliminate the 336 x 280 or similar ad formats soon? If that happens, that will surely be a bad news for me and a number of adsense publishers out there.

PPC observations and website monetization programs

I used to equate pay per click (PPC) programs success to the traffic of my blogs. The more visitors my site receives, the more money I can generate from google adsense or bidvertiser. My conception was however proven wrong these past few months. My showbiz blog, TelebabadQueen.com actually used to get a lot of visitors (thanks to the Marimar mania). It shows a page impression of 800 to 1000 plus. My online jobs site, on the other hand, Jobzonline only registers less than 150 page impressions a day. Nevertheless, Jobzonline earns far more than telebabadqueen. The reason? Page Ecpm. Telebabad Queen’s page Ecpm can be as lower than one dollar.

I have therefore wanted to try other website monetization programs to see if they can work with my high traffic blogs with low PPC income. Yesterday, I have signed up for what people popularly call “pay per play”. I still have to go through the tutorial today so I can understand the program better and hopefully earn more money from url’s of my blogs. What made me sign up is the fact that my visitors need NOT make any click for me to earn from the program. Based on web-audio-ads.net’s video, visitors merely have to listen to a 5 seconds audio and that is it. I hope that this concept will help me maximize the number of visitors that I receive in my sites.

Is it wise to spend PhP 6K for a make money online seminar?

Pinoyblogero has blogged about his and other bloggers’ opinions about the 6,000 peso make money online seminar. Here are my reasons why I too will not attend a seminar that charges that amount to teach people how to earn money online:

I have free and better alternatives to paying 6000 to learn how to make money online. Attending bloggers fellowships like the Mindanao blogger summit is one of the best and guaranteed ways to learn how to make money online. I got a list of some online jobs during the October MBS1. I also met bloggers who gave me inputs on how I can monetize my websites. I do not only get inputs from people who really earn online, I also get to meet new friends.

Why pay when I can google for ways to make money online? In fact, I have an online jobs blog where I have compiled a list of online jobs and ways on making money online that I have found in other sites and forums.

The organizers of the seminar may have good intentions but PhP 6,000 for a make money online seminar tackling adsense, affiliate marketing and paid blog reviews is just too expensive. It is like buying a 6,000 peso book that I have the option to borrow from my friends.I believe that this particular seminar is targeted for those who are not yet familiar with the online economy but I hope that before people register to attend this seminar, they will realize that what will be presented in the seminar may be already available online. They just need the patience to find ways how they can make money online. They also need some logical thinking to understand that not everyone who embarks in earning online will be as financially successful as Abe Olandres and yeah, the self proclaimed dot com mogul. Of course, they also need to have some common sense to avoid getting ripped off by scammers that lurk in the world wide web.
