Why buy an expensive phone when you can buy the world’s cheapest calling mobile phone at a price cheaper than a pair of Levis jeans? At a price tag of merely $10, Hop1800 is currently considered as the world’s cheapest disposable phone and is available even without contract or phone plan as it can be readily used with a prepaid sim card.

So what will you get from a $10 cellphone? According to the Hop on Hop1800 press release, the world’s cheapest mobile phone offer “4 hours of talk time, 150 hours of standby time and polyphonic ring tones.” The mobile phone also offers “excellent audio quality, reception and call stability.”
The cellphone, however has no display so I assume that it cannot be used for sending and receiving SMS text messages.
Where to buy the HOP1800
In US, the cheapest calling mobile phone is available to ” retailers such as drug and convenience stores, big box retailers and to businesses looking for a unique branding opportunity”. The cellphone reportedly will also not only be available in the US but throughout the world as well.

This is awesome. I can leave my expensive phone at home and take this little guy to the beach. I like it. I lost my Very expensive blackberry at a fair. I could have had this on me instead.
