Everyone who has gone through getting their birth certificates from the NSO (National Statistics Office) will agree that getting their Philippine birth certificate is tedious. Unfortunately, NSO released birth certificates, marriage certificates and even CENOMAR (certificate of no marriage) are required these days especially when you are graduating or you are applying for a passport.
Fortunately, getting Philippine birth and other civil registry documents is now possible online. This service has been available for quite a long time now but this info might help people who are still planning to travel from the provinces just to get their NSO certificates in the city.
Application to get a birth certificates and similar documents can be made at ecensus.com.ph. The pay for each birth certificate is PhP 300.00 which is already inclusive of the courier fee. Foreign requests, however, costs US$20.00 for an issuance of a birth certificate. Payment can be done through bank transfer/deposits and credit card payments. Delivery of the document within the Philippines will take 3 to 6 days while foreign deliveries may take up to 8 weeks. Only the owner of the document, the spouse, direct descendants/ascendants or guardian are allowed to receive the NSO documents.
Note: Using free fake birth certificates made in Recto is illegal and punishable by Philippine law.
