Update (March 30, 2008): Online passport processing is now available for first time applicants, please read this post for details: Apply for New Philippine Passport Online

At last, renewing and applying for a passport in the Philippines is now much easier. Passport application through the DFA Passport Appointment System by Internet is now available for Filipinos.Through this online passport application system, people who want to file passport applications can set an appointment with the DFA via the internet instead of waking up very early to be able to transact for their passport in the DFA offices or pay for more when availing the help of travel agencies.

The DFA Passport Appointment System is initially available for

  1. those whose passports have already expired;
  2. those whose passport will be expiring within the next one year; and
  3. senior citizens

The DFA appointment system will reportedly be available to all passport applicants in the future.

Passport applicants can apply for an appointment by sending a request to appointment@dfa.go.ph with the following details:

• Full name (first name, middle name and surname);
• Date of birth;
• Place of birth;
• Latest Passport Number and Date of Issuance

Passport applicants will then be sent a reference number and a confirmation which will include details of designated date and time for the filing of the passport application at the DFA-Passport Office.

    Loida,

    the same lang ang application form na ginagamit saan mang parte ng Pilipinas and if you apply for a passport now, you will be given the brown Machine Readable Passport (MRP)

    Reiz,

    please read the other comments above.

    DFA advises green passport holders to get a brown passport before 2010 because some countries by that time may no longer accept green passports in their borders.

    Your green passport is valid until 2012 but if you do not want to get into trouble with countries that may no longer honor your green passport by 2010, renew your passport ASAP.

    To all, please read the comments above before posting (and reasking) questions.

    LOUIE,

    I did not have any digitized ID when I applied for a passport. Honestly, the reason I applied for a passport is to have a government ID hehehehe go ahead with your 1 id LOUIE, if the DFA does not accept that ask them the requirements and tell them it is impossible to get other goverment and digitized IDs these days. They know it is a fact hehehhehe

    LOUIE Says:

    Thanks for replying Rhodilee, I appreciate it…
    But just a follow-up, is it OK just to present one (1) Digitized government issued ID? That’s what I wanted to be sure of… Aside from the documents I mentioned (NSO Birth Cert., NBI Clearance for Travel, Baptismal Cert., ITR and the Voters ID) is there anythin’ else I need?

    Rhodilee Says:

    Faye,
    The processing fee may depend on the agency. We paid 1500 to our agency while another agency charged my friend 3,000. I only submitted my NSO marriage certificate, I was not required to submit other marriage certificate copies.

    Shula,
    I guess, yes. I think pede mo gamitin ang maiden name mo kasi sa requirements naman ng DFA ang sabi “For married women, who want to use surname of their spouse…..” so merong option.

    Maryse,
    Those with negative birth records are usually advised to get a copy of their birth certificate from the local registrar where they were born. This will be forwarded to the NSO. In the case of your parents though who were born before 1950 better check with the DFA or the NSO.

    According to the website philippine-embassy.org.sg

    Green passports will remain valid and will be honored by immigration authorities worldwide until their stated expiry date

    BUT

    the Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs Domingo Lucenario encouraged all Filipinos with valid green passports to apply for machine-readable passports particularly because some countries already have the prerogative not to accept the green passport
    by 2010. globalnation.inquirer.net/news/breakingnews/view/20090205-187607/Green-passports-valid-until-expiration

    I am not sure about the VISA, better ask the DFA about this.

    Dala ka ng ID and tell DFA you lost your claim stub

    Louie,
    You need to go to the DFA or an agency ASAP if you need to get your passport by March 9. I guess the documents that you have will suffice

    Note:

    The info I posted here are based on news and some other info I gathered online. The DFA and the NSO are still in the best position to answer your queries.

I only have a Voter’s ID, forget SSS coz it’s really impossible to ghet one right now, I applied for a BIR TIN ID, however, it will be released on March 2. I already have a new NSO issued BC, newly renewed NBI clearance, Baptismal cert. What can I do to get a passport before March 9, 2009? Please help me…
