Update (March 30, 2008): Online passport processing is now available for first time applicants, please read this post for details: Apply for New Philippine Passport Online
At last, renewing and applying for a passport in the Philippines is now much easier. Passport application through the DFA Passport Appointment System by Internet is now available for Filipinos.Through this online passport application system, people who want to file passport applications can set an appointment with the DFA via the internet instead of waking up very early to be able to transact for their passport in the DFA offices or pay for more when availing the help of travel agencies.
The DFA Passport Appointment System is initially available for
- those whose passports have already expired;
- those whose passport will be expiring within the next one year; and
- senior citizens
The DFA appointment system will reportedly be available to all passport applicants in the future.
Passport applicants can apply for an appointment by sending a request to appointment@dfa.go.ph with the following details:
• Full name (first name, middle name and surname);
• Date of birth;
• Place of birth;
• Latest Passport Number and Date of Issuance
Passport applicants will then be sent a reference number and a confirmation which will include details of designated date and time for the filing of the passport application at the DFA-Passport Office.

Please check the DFA site for developments but as of the time this article is written, the system is available only to the following:
1. those whose passports have already expired;
2. those whose passport will be expiring within the next one year; and
3. senior citizens
which means that no new passport application is processed via the appointment system yet.

As far as I know you have to report that ASAP to the DFA. Ideally within 6 months after your passport has been issued to you.

I would like to report the following persons who are using falsified documents and false identities such as passports, birth certificates etc., The following are Ms. Ma. Mrs. Sarah O. Pajenago are now planning to leave the country for London as tourist and she is planning to find a new job in that country. She is also recruiting persons and will also be using falsified documents.
While Ms. Ma. Victoria B. Orale is also planning to leave the country for Israel using fake name again.
The above persons have so many complaints not only in their area but also to those people that they recruited.

For online passport applications, visit passport.com.ph. You will pay PhP1,500 total, they will pick up the documents from you, schedule you for a personal appearance and will ship the passport to you.

Mae, please do check with the DFA or the agency.Agencies here in the Philippines usually charge 1500 for a 15 day passport processing though.

ask ko lang po.instead of renewing my passport. I will apply for new one. Willie, Filipinos are only allowed ONE (1) Philippine issued passport. Magkakaron ka ng malaking problema pag nahuli ka na dalawa ang passport mo. 15 days ang pinakamadali na passport processing/issuance sa atin.

kagagaling ko lang sa DFA to renew my passport.Grabe…di mo na kayang i-process ang passport in 1 day.pag pumunta ka dun kahit 7am you will be getting only an appointment date.dahil may qouta na raw (500 a day)…grabe pa mga fixer.ang lalakas mang darag…akala mo empleyado ng DFA! kaya ingat mga kabayan…kaya tomorrow morning (2am) I will go there na.para pumila para magbakasakali…maisama sa 1st 500 person…kasi ang sched ng appointment ko e sa May 7 pa…mas maganda pa yung proseso dati…
kaya mga kabayan good luck sa pag renew or pag apply nyo ng passport…Ingat sa mga gagong fixer…basta diretso lang kayu sa loob wag nyo pansinin yung mga fixer.walang requirement pagpumasok sa DFA…kaya wag maniwala sa mga fixer…

to all it may concern,
my daughter has to renew her passport issued by the PCG-HK.since i am not in the Philippines to do that,i authorized someone to do it for me with the power of a lawyer in the PCG-HK.as all the requirements for a passport renewal was completed and submitted to the DFA office he was given a certain date to pick it up.he thought that everything was alright as expected but he was wrong.he was summoned by another officer next to the one who approved the documents and started asking for other documents which are difinitely unnecessary for the processing!since i know that it was approved by the other officer i am so disgusted to think that the other officer wants one and only ONE THING! money,money, lagay,lagay, lagay.kailan mai-exterminate ang mga anay na ito………

May mga agencies na nag pa process passport. Usually they charge around 1500 for a 15 day processing. I cannot attest for any agency pero usually meron mga agency sa mga malls especially SM. I believe more likely ay accredited ang mga ito ng DFA.
BTW, I am a female, so no need to call me “sir”.

As far as I know it is 15 days, just the same when you apply for a passport through agencies. Wala na overnight processing ngayon because the DFA is now stricter (fake passports you know).

I wonder why in Iloilo DFA they are sending the passport to Manila for the renewal, why dont they advice to go for online application, all the reasons, Malfunction of their machine readable. they are all inutile people.
To my concern, why this Passport agency become more slower toproces for its a machine readable compare to the writnng system.
If today they can make it by 14 days, how much more delays to have in by year 2010, since we are the only country doesnt comply the machine readable passport, the always reason, we dont have enough machine or the people itself int the Philippine Passport Office has the tatak utak pinoy talangka.

ang alam ko talaga lahat na ng dfa agencies ngayon sa Manila na pina process ang passport. Parang na i centralize na ata sa Manila ang pag gawa which explains bakit wala na one day processing ngayon. Ang alam ko part din ito ng effort ng government to combat fake passports.

It will NOT be possible to get a passport in 7 days Rakel. Minimum is now 15 days. I am not sure if this has also changed to 25 days (one travel agent just told me a week ago it is now 25 days).

Naku, pag me nakita kang site na less than 25 days wag ka maniwala don. As I have mentioned, CENTRALIZED na ang pag gawa ng passport.

Honestly, I believe some DFA people may not even know online application/renewal of passport already exists. Isa pa, marami pa rin internet illiterate sa Pilipinas including those who have already gone abroad kaya siguro ina assume din ng mga dfa people that Filipinos will still prefer “lakad dito pila doon” passport application.

The new passports from the Philippines, are “machine-readable passports which use biometrics or special electronic information chips imbedded with security images on the laminated data page.”
Fake passports do not have these features. Some fake passports, however, appear really authentic because they have really been issued by the DFA but the data has been changed. Using passport reading machines seems to be the best way to identify fake passports.

I am a bit confused here, I browsed DFA’s website (www.dfa.gov.ph), and going through processing fees it seems like theres a 7 days expedite processing which costs 750 php.
I am not sure which is the latest update with regards to processing time. I hope you can help me with this matter. thanks a lot!

Hi Mam, we have the same problem before. I advise you to inquire n your City Civil Registry & ask for correction of name. It would take 45 days for you to get the Authenticated Birth certificate from NSO, or you may call the NSO hotline.

Birth Certificate (BC) in Security Paper (SECPA) issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO)
3 photos of the applicant taken against a royal blue background
Proof of identity / Supporting documents indicating full name, date and place of birth and citizenship (IDs, transcript of record, baptismal certificate, etc).
If applicable;
Marriage Contract (MC) in Security Paper issued by NSO
Death Certificate of the deceased husband (widowed wives)

thanks for the link. I am not sure if there is some sort of courtesy lane for government officials. If the travel is related to your dad’s function as a government official though, your networks at the DFA or related agencies may help expedite the processing.
I suggest you verify with DFA nalang if the 7 days application is indeed doable. I hope you can also update us with the details.

good morning! ma’am i went to a photo studio to have my picture taken so i could renew my passpost, but the people at the studio said, ‘its useless to have your picture taken ’cause the DFA have their own cameraman, i ask them ‘how about the mobile team?’ they also answered that they have also bring cameraman with them’. Is this true ma’am? I wish that my picture taken at the studio so as to have a picture that i will look nice not haggard when you go to the DFA office very early in the morning! please i would like have an enlightenment about these matter!

It will be better if you have your photo taken by the studio near or endorsed by the DFA. Many studio pics do not comply with DFA photo requirements.

The studio may comply to all DFA photo requirements but it is still up to the DFA to approve the photo or not. You can have your photo taken at the studio but make sure to bring extra money for a new set of photo in case it won’t get the nod from the DFA people.

hi there anyone can help me. My passport will expire this year in the month of August but I never used it for 5 years since I applied for it. Now, I am planning to go abroad but my passport carries the wrong spelling of middle instead of ‘a’ it was mispelled to ‘e’. BJ please read the post above and go to the link mentioned. If you are doubtful the courier will accept those “minor” documents, I suggest you apply via an agency or the DFA instead.
Cheeking, make the DFA know about the correction, they can give the advice.
Seneth, if your passport expires on 2011 then I believe you can still use it. Just inquire from the DFA if you want to renew your passport at a much earlier date.

ok. gusto kc namin ng friend ko mag-apply ng passport.. first time namin to, then nabasa ko po yung ni-rerefer nyong online application. ask ko lang po if ok po ba tlga dun? kc bigla kaming nag-dalawang isip nung nabasa namin yung nakasulat na “Approval for passports applied online is not guaranteed as this still depends on the discretion of the DFA.”
bago lang po ba sila or naka-ilang years narin?

Hindi lahat ng passport application ay maa aprub regardless online ka mag apply o pipila ka sa DFA. I think no worries naman kung ma comply mo naman ang requirements. I read some forum and it seems passport.com.ph is okay naman here it is for reference http://www.tipidpc.com/viewtopic.php?tid=151442 but if you are doubtful, you can just have your passport processed sa agency or direct sa dfa.

Hi, andito ako ngayon sa canada may paraan ba na ipa-renew ko ang phil passport ko sa philippines without my personal appearance kasi renew lang naman eh… and gaano katagal kahit magbayad ako ok lang basta mai-renew lang ASAP!!! may alam ka ba na website na accredited ng DFA na pwede ako mag-apply?! at ipapadala nalang nila dito sa canada… thx and more power to u! I haven’t applied for any foreign visa yet so I am not sure about the requirements. Nevertheless, if your concern is that your green passport may not be accepted, green passports are still considered valid until their expiry date. I believe you can renew your passport earlier but better contact DFA about this. Did you check the link that I gave earlier in mY previous comment? Please note that personal appearance of either parent is required kahit online ka nag apply ng passport. The requirements will be shown to the DFA so better check out with DFA kung ano talaga requirements.

Postal ID is a valid ID. It would be better though if your mother prepares an NBI clearance and baptismal certificate. They are the easiest document to get.

Good news! DFA/ passport.com.ph now accepts New applications for passports! For only P1,300 get your passport without the hassle of going to DFA and waiting in long lines! I will get a new passport for my son (7 years old). Do he need for personal appearance? My other son’s passport (14 years old) already expired last 2007 . I will renew it. Do he also needs for personal appearance?

Ma’am, I’m in the US right now and planning to let my family join me here. My two kids who are still minors need to secure their passport. I have someone inquired from DFA (Cebu) the requirements one of which is my affidavit of consent allowing my husband to secure their passport. They said I will have the US embassy sign the said affidavit. This becomes a concern right now cause the closest US embassy is two-hour drive from my place and I can’t possibly take a leave of absence from my work. Is there any other option that you can suggest?

hello po…bago lang ako dito sa Tasmania…at mageexpired na po ang passport this november..saan po pinakamalapit na place mula dito para mag apply at mga ilang araw po ang processing…maraming salamat po!.more power!

hello po ask ko lng po kng paano mababago yun passport ko. Dinaya ko po kc yun date of birth ko duon sa luma kng passport at ne renew ko pa sya nun nasa japan ako. instead of 1983 i put 1980 to be able to work. Ako po yun nandaya sa age ko nde yun company na ni applyan ko.
paano po ba ang dapat kong gawin. pwede bang mag apply na lng ako ng bagong passport with the correct info

mag aaply po ako ng passport..kaya lang, wla po akong valid id’s. ang meron lng po ako is yung sa tin..pwede po ba ung postal id? any other supporting documents na pwedeng ipass? thanks. ur response will be greatly appreciated.

im really worried about the releasing of my passport. my agency told me that it would only take 15 days to process it, so i was pretty confident that ill get my passport by aug. 15 2008 already, but till now i still dont have my passport and i already had my tickets booked and confirmed for aug 29. 2008. i renewed my passport lang july 25 pa lang po..
